About

Welcome to Middlewick!

Middlewick Farm has been here since the early 1600’s, possibly even earlier, and it has been set up as holiday cottages since the mid 1980’s. We are set in a stunning location with amazing views across the Mendips, towards Glastonbury Tor  and across to the Bristol Channel.

It was never in our plans to buy holiday cottages, life just took a few twists and turns and we ended up here at the base of Glastonbury Tor in 2011. It all started when our son Thomas, a keen golfer, was offered a place at Millfield School. We came out to have a look at the school and the area. Thomas loved the school and we decided to go have a look at the town of Glastonbury as we had never been there before. We took Wick Lane thinking it would lead us into the town. As we were driving we went past a property with a sign that said Mapleleaf Middlewick Holiday Cottages. Jill, being Canadian had a giggle to think that there were Canadians living up here. It turned out the place was for sale and the rest is history. Middlewick is now our home.

The farmhouse and outbuildings were in need of some TLC and we have been renovating it over the years. The outdated electric heating system has now been replaced by a new wood pellet burning bio-mass boiler. Bathrooms, kitchens, carpets, windows, electrics, all works in progress but most have now been replaced. We now also generate most of our own electricity via 120 PV panels on the roof of our barn.

When we bought Middlewick we knew nothing about the world of hospitality, prior to moving here Jill founded a retail brand called Green Baby. Over the years we have learned a lot and are still learning. The restoration of the property has been a labour of love and we do hope that you enjoy it as much as we do.

Besides renovating the property we have also added a small farm shop where we sell our own eggs and home bred pork. We also stock local Wick honey and vegetables from our garden in the summer months. We also have a number of animals, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, cats and horses! Most are happy to be petted by guests.
